Heartbreaking News on Cargo Plane Incident: Fatalities Rises to 13

The tally of victims due to the transport jet which ignited and plummeted has now climbed to 13, as confirmed by recent announcements.

Official's Announcement

“On my way to the Union’s memorial service, I learned of a thirteenth victim that passed away as a outcome of the UPS flight 2976 incident,” expressed the municipal leader in a social media post. “My thoughts is with the loved ones, associates and peers of all who were taken in this week’s calamity. We will overcome this collectively.”

Casualties Confirmed

A release from the carrier listed the flight crew on board the jet as Pilot Richard Wartenberg, First Officer Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our sympathies are extended to all employee who has been affected and everyone in our local community – supporting you and making sure you receive the support and resources you need is our focus,” the firm’s communication read.

Inquiry Details

Government investigators announced that the UPS cargo plane’s port side wing ignited and an power plant fell off soon after departure from the Louisville Muhammad Ali international airport, causing the jet to fall and explode into a blaze.

The NTSB stated it is examining the plane’s maintenance history, which was in the state for repairs several weeks ahead of the accident.

Aircraft records revealed the plane was on the tarmac in that location from 3 September to 18 October.

“We are aware that this aircraft was there in that city,” stated an official on the following day, without a precise time frame. “We will review every piece of maintenance that was performed, from the repair period, right up to the date of the journey.”

Recovery of Critical Components

The cockpit voice recorder and data recorder were retrieved, and the engine was discovered on the airfield.

The devices – known as flight recorders – were built to withstand crash impacts and extreme heat from infernos, and they seemed to be in one piece when located amid the wreckage. Investigators plan on reviewing information from the devices.

Jet’s last data recordings indicated an elevation of 475 feet and a velocity of that speed before the impact.

Service Background

Based on aviation authority files from 18 September, a crack on a component in the center wing fuel tank demanded maintenance.

Singapore-based ST Engineering, which indicated it supplies airframe maintenance for the company’s jet and runs a maintenance center in Texas, refused to speak, but said it would cooperate fully when investigators contacted it.

Services Resume

At the same time, the hub operations continued that evening with its overnight or night sort process, official Jim Mayer said. Each of the three runways at the aviation hub were likewise reopened.

The sorting center in Louisville is the organization’s most significant. The center employs more than 20,000 people in the area, manages three hundred trips each day and sorts more than a huge volume of parcels an hour.

Community Response

A gathering was conducted on the evening of 6 November by the local worker’s group, which represents staff at the Louisville airport, the firm’s largest shipping facility.

Teamsters Local 89, which supports UPS workers, commenced the memorial with a moment of silence at that time, the rough moment of the crash two days earlier.

“This event was so abrupt, so unforeseen,” the mayor addressed the crowd of attendees. “No one had a moment to part to any one of those who we have said farewell to.”
